Raising the Bar

This past week, we put the wraps on a fantastic custom home in Magna Bay that we’ve been working on since 2025.

This outstanding Westcoast-style home actually isn’t that large by some standards. Total square footage is about 2,900 square feet. But it is chock fully of unique features and fixtures. A couple of weeks ago, we showed you the completed “moon portal” sliding door to the office. That was just one of many custom features.

The clients wanted their home to allow the feeling of interior and exterior being one. To achieve that, we installed a massive sliding door system that opens up the great room to the expansive deck. We also installed the same natural rock used on the exterior in locations inside the home (the main entrance, for example which is shown in the bottom left photo above). The timbers on the fireplace were constructed out of lumber milled from a tree on the property that was cut down when we started this project. There are numerous other unique features in the home, including each bathroom having a completely different tile and design.

“We’ve built so many highly-customized homes that sometimes we think we’ve seen it all,” says Heidi Friesen, CIFH Project Manager. “However, this project, and our visionary clients, surprised us over and over again. To be honest, it really put us to the test and even stretched us a little. But that’s a very good thing, because it’s the only way we can take our game to even greater heights. Highly custom features can give us some sleepless nights during construction, but they also give us incredible feelings of satisfaction when the job is finally done!”

Our thanks to our clients for allowing us to build their very, very unique Shuswap dream.
