Pedal to the Metal
In Eagle Bay, we’ve been working an extensive, whole-home renovation since early last year. Our clients love the home and its location, but wanted to totally update all aspects of it. This has included considerable structural work, with the addition of steel support beams to accommodate the desired changes to the open concept home.
Now, as we’re getting closer to completing the lengthy project, we’re again working with metal products, which are custom-fabricated by Al Babakaiff from Salmon arm. On the two outside photos above, you can see the decorative “eyebrows” that Al has built and installed at the front of the house. And in the middle photo above, you can see his work in progress: two set of single open stairway stringers that will allow access to the home’s third floor. Each of the treads will eventually be finished with white oak with strip lighting. We are currently planning the safe installation of each 1,400 pound stringer.
Elsewhere on this project, we have completed installation of new windows and sliding doors. The plumbing and HVAC rough-ins are 95% complete, and electrical rough in is well underway.
Our clients have some very exciting design ideas we will be incorporating in the finishing process as we work to completion this year. We’re currently working on completing the drywall, and will then get started with the finishing touches. More updates and photos to come!
