Not Your Granny’s Kitchen!

Kitchens aren’t what they used to be. Increasingly, designers and clients are dreaming up custom variations that are challenging our view of how kitchens should look. Often, we now see kitchens in our renovation and new construction projects that utilize blends of materials and colours to create some very unique cooking areas.

Case in point — a complete whole home makeover that we’re working hard to complete in Blind Bay. Our client loved the idea of a traditional white kitchen, but she also didn’t want to make it homogeneous and boring. Her goal was a kitchen design that would embrace white while introducing some warm pops of wood to break up the monotony. Working with the chosen cabinet supplier for this project, 7 Point Millworks out of Kamloops, she selected some wood cabinetry to surround the deep white sink. The same wood was chosen for the custom range hood, and the open corner shelving. A butcher block countertop in warm wood ties everything together. All of these wood highlights are in the same tones as the beautiful wood flooring that you see in the photo below.

The tile backsplash also adds a pleasing rustic look to her kitchen.

Here at Copper Island Fine Homes, we work with 7 Points Millwork on many projects. The company’s designers and installers always go out of their way to make sure the final product is perfect. For more information, visit
