On the Shuswap’s North Shore, we’re hard at work with wildfire rebuilding projects at various stages of planning and construction. One of them is a steep lot rebuild in Celista. We had an extremely challenging foundation phase due in large part to the need for engineered retaining walls at the front and back of the home — we ended having to pour the new ICF foundation in several stages.
We’re happy to report that we’re now making much swifter progress in the framing stage, as you can see in the photos above. This coming week, we’ll be sheeting over the trusses in preparation to install a standing seam metal roof. The roof will offer substantial wildfire protection, as will the home’s steel board and batten siding. Needless to say, after losing their original home, our clients have educated themselves well on fire smart building techniques, and are taking advantage of all building practices and products that will enhance the fire resistant properties of their new home.
Among other features, the basement level is being constructed with a hydronic floor heating system. As with the clients’ previous home, the new build will offer incredible views of the Shuswap Lake.
