Here at Copper Island Fine Homes, we find ourselves building more and more homes for clients who are wisely concerned about maximizing energy efficiency, green technologies, and sustainability. An excellent example of this can be found in a luxurious lakefront home that we've been busy working on in Eagle Bay this winter.
Our clients, who are currently living overseas in Doha, have done an amazing amount of homework, and we're only too happy to transform their energy efficiency ambitions into reality. The final result will be one of the most technologically-advanced homes we've ever had the privilege of building.
Some of the green features of this spacious, west coast-style home include Innotech Defender series high efficiency windows, geothermal heating with steam humidification and heat recovery ventilation, solar panels, under-slab radiant garage heat, and a backup 20 Kw generator powered by propane.
Currently, we're working hard despite the cold weather to finish framing and get back on schedule after demolition of the existing house and trade delays caused delays. Our staff and sub-trades are doing an amazing job, and we've just finished roof sheeting and deck covering in preparation to lock up and begin our rough-ins.
The home isn't just about efficiency--it will also have many luxury features as part of its internal and external finishing.
"Years ago, Copper Island Fine Homes made a considerable investment in various energy efficiency trade certifications," says Greg Vistisen, President and CEO of Copper Island Fine Homes. "We're the only builder to date to have achieved many of those certifications, and they're paying off handsomely because many clients now clearly see the value of green building. As we move on, more clients will want to incorporate energy efficiency as a matter of course--and we're the only builders who can expertly deliver in this growing area."
