In Eagle Bay, Copper Island Fine Homes is making great progress on one of the most unique projects we've ever had the pleasure of being involved with.
Our clients, who are from Kelowna, had an existing summer home that just wasn't adequate or large enough for their needs. Given a need to satisfy their need for a larger and more modern home in a way that meets local building requirements, our clients opted to renovate the existing home--and also blend it with an additional 2,400 square feet of living space provided through new construction.
The plan below gives you an idea of what the finished product will look like, while the photo shows our progress as at the end of October.
Shortly after the photo was taken, the roof trusses were delivered onsite and installed, and roofing is our current priority--we need to integrate the new roof with that of the old structure, and then install shingles while the weather holds.
Other work underway on the project includes finishing of key drains and the septic field, designing retaining wall options for the driveway and septic field, and completing all design choices for cabinetry, flooring and other finishes. We're also moving into electrical and plumbing rough-ins. Of particular note is the HVAC system selected: high performance, ultra-low temperature mini-split heat pumps by Fujitsu. These types of units represent an intriguing, cost-effective and increasingly popular method of providing top quality heat and air conditioning throughout a home.
At the time of writing, we're entirely on schedule as we look to a possession date in the Spring of 2019.
